The recent Event Solution tradeshow in Las Vegas featured a few sample linens for the new look in chevron patterns. Along with the overall fashion direction of prints and graphic design in women’s wear, chevron seems to have taken the fancy of linen suppliers. Since then, more of these patterns are appearing in catalogs, furniture, accessories, etc.
The patterns can be tiring to the eye after awhile and I question their staying power for the long run. I can see them for a spring outdoor event – ladies luncheon or casual tea but would be careful about overdoing the “busyness” of the pattern.
Mixing the best of Spring….
With April showers behind us (hopefully) I’m excited to see the garden starting to bloom! It’s always fun to enjoy farmer’s market produce during this time of year and the widening variety of flowers available. Here in Southern California succulents continue to hold court in arrangements and are stunning when paired with a variety of florals and branches.
I thought these arrangements of succulents, florals and vegetables by Anthomatic florals clever, inspiring and easy to assemble!
Captains of Industry and their secrets to success….
Other than being very successful entrepreneurs, what do Richard Branson, owner of Virgin Airlines and Barbara Corcoran, real estate mogul, have in common? They attribute their secret for success, creativity and innovation to something very simple: FUN!
Both go out of their way to schedule out of the box, fun gatherings with their staff, taking them out of their comfort zone and daily business attire. Judging by photos she has shared , Barbara has planned some wild times and parties with her staff – and in the process, her celebrations became coveted events and the talk of New York .
In a recent article, Richard Branson describes how he also likes to step away from the usual business agenda. Instead, he prefers to set inspiring themes in a great destination, invite a diverse mix of people to hear a thought provoking speaker and surprise the group with some fun entertainment.
Both have figured out the key to elicit creativity, ideas and conversations is to create those special experiences in a fun, relaxed and casual environment.
I can’t think of anyone who would want to miss this business meeting around a floating appetizer station!
